Maybe I'm just not an American RPG lover or something, but after hearing all the hype about this game from the media, as well as my friends, I felt it didn't quite match up to it. Yes, it was supposed to be a cinematic experience, much like GoW was, but the amount of dialogue almost made it not quite worth the $35 I spent on it. I know Bioware's famous for games with a fuck-load of text and story, with a basic premise for gameplay, but I feel they went a little overboard on this.
It seemed like the entire game went like this: an hour of running around looking for someone to kill, then a 45 minute "cutscene" of interactive speech.
The game looks awesome, but I kind of felt a little restricted on some parts (such as not being able to change look speed in a shooter, wtf?), and I'm pretty sure I know the reasons why, though I wont list them here.
For it being a game made in the Unreal3 engine, I know exactly what they were having to go through with making the game look and feel as good as it does, and mad props to them. but with the Film Grain effect going, I felt like I was rather playing a movie instead of playing a videogame.
With all that said, it's still a great game. However, I find it a little weird that there's almost equal amounts of time spent in the dialogue trees as what's spent in the game shooting stuff. Then again, MGS4 has a gameplay:cutscene ratio of 4:5, and nobody really complains about that.
